Love me, Love me Not

That one little question:
Loves me, loves me not --
That is putting me through torture.

Those three little words:
"I love you," --
That could send me to the stars.

That little bit of uncertainty:
Maybe he'll go, maybe he'll stay --
That is making me doubt.

That one phrase: 
"I don't know if I love you,"--
That brings tears to my eyes.

So now we meet at the crossroads:
Of loves me, loves me not?
I approach it with tears in my eyes, and a half-broken heart.
You approach it with confusion and a restless soul.
I can only let you go, and only you can make the decision.
So what will it be, sweetheart?
Love me, or love me not?

(Note: I actually submitted this poem to my high school's poetry contest back in 2000 and it actually was acepted for the school's poetry antology. Yeah me!)
